Winston AI Detector About Us

About Winston AI Detector

A free, independent AI detection tool — built for students, educators, and writers.

What We Do

winstonaidetector.com provides a free, unlimited AI content detection tool. Paste any text and receive an AI probability score with sentence-level highlights — no registration, no word limits, no credit system.

Our detection engine analyzes linguistic patterns including perplexity, burstiness, and semantic structure to estimate whether text was generated by an AI language model. Results are returned in real time.

Our Mission

AI content detection should not cost $18–$49 per month. The core question — “was this written by a human or by AI?” — is one that students, teachers, editors, and everyday writers need to answer regularly. We built this tool to make that capability genuinely accessible.

We are not trying to replace dedicated enterprise platforms with PDF archiving, batch processing, and institutional integrations. For those use cases, paid tools like gowinston.ai serve a real purpose. But for the vast majority of individual users who need a quick, reliable signal before submitting an essay or publishing an article, the free tool covers everything.

Our Values

Honest accuracy
We do not claim 99.98% accuracy. We report realistic ranges (85–91%) consistent with independent research.
Privacy by default
Your text is processed in real time and never stored. No account means no data trail.
Clear caveats
Detection scores are probabilities, not verdicts. We say so clearly so results are not misused.

Who We Are Not

We are not gowinston.ai. winstonaidetector.com is an independent website with no affiliation, partnership, or commercial relationship with gowinston.ai or its parent company. “Winston AI” in our name refers to the detection methodology category, not to the commercial brand. For the official gowinston.ai service, visit gowinston.ai directly.

How the Tool Works

Our detection engine evaluates three primary signals in submitted text:

  • Perplexity — how statistically predictable the word choices are. AI language models tend to select high-probability words; human writing is more varied and “surprising.”
  • Burstiness — variation in sentence length. Human writers naturally alternate between short punchy sentences and long complex ones. AI output tends toward uniform sentence length.
  • Semantic patterns — overuse of formal transition phrases (“Furthermore,” “In conclusion,” “It is important to note”), absence of personal voice markers, and characteristic vocabulary clustering.

These three signals are combined to produce a probability score from 0% (strongly human) to 100% (strongly AI-generated). Individual sentences are highlighted to show which parts contributed most to the score.

No detector is perfectly accurate. False positives occur — especially for formally written academic text, non-native English writers, or heavily templated content. We always recommend treating detection results as a signal to investigate further, not as conclusive proof of AI authorship.

Contact and Feedback

We read all messages sent through our Contact page. Bug reports, accuracy feedback, and suggestions are welcome — they directly influence how we improve the tool.
